Hello, I’m Steve!
I am a dynamic, confident, CELTA trained, teacher and have taught a wide range of students at all levels. With 12 years teaching experience and a previous career spent working on behalf of the British government all over the world, acquiring professional qualifications in criminal investigation and criminology. I have unique life skills, worldly experience and a lot of British humour to bring to the online classroom. I am experienced in the teaching of Business English and English for specific purpose (ESP) Banking and Finance English for Lawyers, English for Fashion, Media and Marketing Medical English Aviation English Oil, Gas and Engineering industries, Chemical Engineering, Business Management and Tourism and Hospitality
I prepare students for life in the UK and the US specialising in interview techniques, language for the workplace and courses in motivation and skills for life in a foreign country. As a corporate trainer I adapt authentic materials in the specific discipline of the learner to suit their level of English. I enjoy deigning bespoke and tailor- made coursesusing diverse and always creative fun-based teaching methods to meet the needs of you, the student, where the use of role play, student interaction and real-life scenarios have made teaching ESP and business English so satisfying and fascinating for me and students alike. I have taught in Spain, where I had my own radio English programme and the UK in London and Canterbury and as an online teacher my students are mainly professional adults from Russia.
I have had literally hundreds of satisfied IELTS and TOEFL students, including, recently, Saudi-Arabian students who have just started their engineering courses in British universities and a Colombian student who has just begun her medical studies in the US, and their final comments were, ‘we couldn’t believe IELTS would be fun’
